How long have you been a Bendigo Community Health Services volunteer?
About 14 months.
What role(s) do you carry out?
I help Karen people who come to Bendigo to live. I helped them learn how to use the bus, to go to appointments and listen to them.
Why do you volunteer?
I can help some people with the things I know. If they don’t know something, I can help them.
What is your most memorable moment as a volunteer?
No one moment just many moments where we laugh together.
What advice would you give someone thinking about volunteering?
It is good to do, it is good to help people. It is generous to give your time for other people.
What are your interests outside volunteering?
Cooking, spending time with my children. I have also worked in child care.
How do you fill any spare time you have?
Help people and be with my children and friends.
Do you have any pets?
No.
What is your most cherished possession?
My children.
What makes you laugh?
When I talk with my friends they make me laugh. I laugh when I am happy.
How would you spend your last $10?
Food for my kids.
