Bendigo Community Health Services has launched a new Coronavirus Telephone Hotline for the Karen community (July 6). 

Our Karen speaking staff will answer calls to the hotline.

You can call 5406 1254 or call/send text message to 0437 418 984 from 1pm-4.30pm, Monday to Thursday.

The Karen community can ask questions around things like self isolation, getting tested, social distancing and travel to Melbourne.

This initiative continues our valuable work for refugee communities and supports the #BendigoTogether campaign.

Gambling can become an issue for some people.

Raising awareness about the dangers of gambling, how this can impact on families and most importantly where to turn for help is so important.

A great partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation has allowed us to great a special series of gambling information in Karen language to help raise awareness within refugee communities.

The series covers the different types of gambling, how gambling can become addictive, how this will impact on family and friends, when to realise you have a gambling problem and where to turn for help.

The campaign features an information booklet and videos translated in Karen language.

We have translated this Heatwave Action Plan from the City of Greater Bendigo for the Karen community.

There’s exciting things happening at our Kangaroo Flat site in Helm Street.

We’re creating a new ‘welcoming’ reception area with huge windows for plenty of natural light and extra space to make the consumer experience more comfortable and nicer all round.

Reception will move to the other side of the building to provide better access to our kidzspace hub too.

BUT … yes, there’s always a but right!

We’re going to need your support for the next five or so weeks as it’s going to get a bit hectic out there as Bendigo company Total Fit Out get to work on building this new reception.

It’ll be business as usual at Kangaroo Flat as far as service delivery goes, but to make things easier and safer for all, we’ve set up a temporary reception in our kidzspace building. This map will show you the way!

You can easily access this reception via a driveway that’s about 50 metres or so further along Helm Street from our traditional car park.

If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call on 5430 0500 and we’ll help you out.

We really appreciate your support and patience as we create this brand new reception area for everyone.
