Nurse Practitioner Week

This week is Nurse Practitoner Week and we asked some of our BCHS Nurse Practitioners to reflect on their highlights of the role and tell us more about what it means to be a Nurse Practitioner.

Nurse Practitoners is a Registered Nurse with the experience, expertise and authority to diagnose and treat people of all ages with a variety of acute or chronic health conditions. Nurse Practitioners have completed additional university study at Master’s degree level and are the most senior and independent clinical nurses in our health care system.

Bendigo Community Health Services and City of Greater Bendigo have come together to launch Greater Bendigo’s Healthy Catering Guide to help make healthy choices easy and accessible.

This Guide has been developed to assist you to choose healthy options when ordering catering.

All menu items have been assessed through the Healthy Eating Advisory Services online ‘FoodChecker’ tool. Food and drinks meeting the GREEN and AMBER classifications have only been included in this guide to align with the Healthy choices: workplace healthy eating policy and catering guide.

Join the workplaces across Bendigo choosing the healthy option for their next catering event.

We would like to welcome David Kennedy to the Life Member Honour Board.

David Kennedy was actively involved in the creation of the then Eaglehawk and Long Gully Community Health Centre in 1973/1974 which would later become Bendigo Community Health Services.

At our Annual General Meeting held earlier this month BCHS was delighted to announce the results of our Board of Directors Election.

BCHS is governed by a nine-person Board currently comprising of five whom are elected by our members and four appointed by the Board of Directors, to ensure that there is an appropriate mix of skills to govern the organisation.

BCHS is no longer offering Covid vaccinations.

You can book a Covid vaccine at the Bendigo Health vaccination hub, 113-133 Mollison Street, Bendigo - or visit your local GP or pharmacy.

Bendigo Community Health Services is delivering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to eligible people from the City of Greater Bendigo.

We can deliver both first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

If you want a vaccine today please try the Bendigo Health Vaccination Centre at 113-133 Mollison Street. The centre is open from 10am to 5pm daily. Call 1800 675 398 to make an appointment. The centre accepts a limited number of walk-in appointments each day.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Central site has been deep cleaned and is open as normal.

EARLIER: The Department of Health has contacted a Bendigo Community Health Services staff member today to let them know a confirmed COVID-19 case attended our Central site at 9.30am on Wednesday (October 20).

A check of records shows the positive case also attended our Central site at 11.45am on Tuesday for a very short time with an appointment query.

Our Central site has been closed for a deep clean in line with our COVID-19 protocol.

The site is expected to be open as normal on Monday.

Please note we have had no official notification in regards to Central being listed as a Tier site but will keep the community informed should this occur.

The health and welfare of our staff and consumers is always our number one priority.

BCHS AGM 2021: We'd love for you to tune in as we reflect on a year like no other

A look back at a 'year like no other' will be the feature of our 'virtual' Annual General Meeting on November 10 and we'd love for you to tune in.

The AGM will feature a presentation from our Board of Directors Chair Vicki Pearce and CEO Gerard Jose.

Other highlights will include:

Presentation of financial position
Board of Directors election results
Member vote on BCHS Constitution changes including Life Member eligibility.

The AGM will start at 10.30am on November 10 and all members, stakeholders, consumers and the general community are most welcome.
