Wonderful acts of generosity are one of the truly heartwarming things about our Bendigo Community Coat Drive every year.

Pure kindness such as Knit4Charities who on Thursday delivered bags and bags of beautifully handmade goodies to help those in need this winter.

The donations were lovingly crafted by Knit4Charities members across Australia and as we fished through the donations the true extent of this generosity was apparent - 113 adult beanies, 150 children's beanies, 69 pairs of fingerless gloves, 78 scarves and nine pairs of socks. Incredible!

The accompanying letter revealed:

"These donations come to you with compliments from members of Knit4Charities Inc. across Australia.

"We are a national internet-based group of knitters, crocheters and sewers who band together to make warm clothing and other items for people in need.

"All items are lovingly made by volunteers who supply their own materials and pay the postage to get them to the person making this delivery."

To all the members of Knit4Charities we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and assure you these beautiful donations will support people in need get through winter.

You should all be very proud of what you do to help others.

The Bendigo Community Coat Drive runs from May 6 to May 25.

All donated coats are treated free of charge by Pristine Dry Cleaners before being distributed through Bendigo Community Health Services sites in Eaglehawk (3 Seymoure Street), Kangaroo Flat (19 Helm Street) and Bendigo CBD (165-171 Hargreaves Street).

AFL Central Victoria and their clubs across the region are helping support the coat drive this year.
