Barry Plant Bendigo the new major sponsor for Run For Dad Bendigo

Barry Plant Bendigo is the new major sponsor of the Run For Dad Bendigo on Father’s Day.

The Bendigo real estate agency answered a call from Run For Dad organisers after the September 2 event at Bendigo Racecourse was left without a major sponsor.

Athletics Bendigo spokesman Keith Macdonald said the Barry Plant Bendigo sponsorship would ensure the event continued to play a vital role in raising awareness of men’s health.

“This event is all about people getting out and having fun while raising awareness of the important issues of men’s health and prostate cancer. We know sometimes men need prompting to think about their health and through the years this event has constantly reminded them of the importance of getting a regular health check,” Mr Macdonald said.

“Run For Dad Bendigo supports the work done by the Bendigo Community Health Services men’s health clinic and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia so Barry Plant Bendigo’s wonderful support will let that continue – we’re thrilled.”

Barry Plant Bendigo marketing administrator Hayley Donlon said the agency was happy to support Run For Dad Bendigo

“We love supporting local media, shops and tradesman so when we heard the event was looking for a sponsor we met with Keith and put together a proposal,” Hayley said

“Our board was so excited about the opportunity it was approved overnight and our area specialist in Epsom Daniel Dea was stoked to know the event was at the Bendigo Jockey Club.”

Ms Donlon said the agency would encourage staff to join the fun of Run For Dad Bendigo.

“We will be getting as many staff as possible to run or walk. We hope for at least 15 staff to attend. We will be actively promoting our support of this great event,” Hayley said.

Mr Macdonald said with a major sponsor secured, organisers would turn their attention to promoting the September 2 event featuring a 3.75km walk or 7km run, medals for all and a free breakfast.

“We will work with the community to promote Run For Dad Bendigo and encourage fathers and their children or other family members to take part. The more people we can get involved and thinking about prostate cancer the better,” he said.

“We know that prostate cancer isn’t a death sentence if detected early so that’s the message we need men to hear.

“If you like running, just want to get out for some exercise or you have a reason to run with a history of prostate cancer in the family or with friends, then please visit www.registernow.com.au, search for Run For Dad Bendigo and join us on Father’s Day.”
